Fourth Annual Chesapeake Children's Book Festival
June 8, 2019 @ 10:00AM — 3:00PM Eastern Time (US & Canada)
Come meet the authors and illustrators of some of today's best books at the Fourth Annual Chesapeake Children's Book Festival.

On Saturday, June 8, from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., in its Easton branch (100 West Dover Street), the Talbot County Free Library will host the 4th Annual Chesapeake Children's Book Festival.
The Festival is a one-day, rain or shine, free event that celebrates children, community, diversity, and literacy. Festival-goers will have the opportunity to meet award-winning, best-selling, multi-talented authors and illustrators as they share their stories and love of children.
The Children's Book Festival will also serve as the kick-off event for the Talbot County Free Library's summer reading program. Children who sign up for the summer reading program will receive a voucher good for a free book from one of the Festival's 25 authors (while supplies last). The children can then visit with the author of the book they've received and have him or her sign it for them. Authors will also be reading their books and answering audience questions.
Studies show that children without access to books during the summer experience an almost ten percent drop in reading skills known as "summer slide." The same studies show that children with access to books during the summer not only avoid "summer slide," but in most cases show an improvement of as much as twenty-four percent in their reading skills over the summer.
The Talbot County Free Library's summer reading program provides children of all ages with fun incentives to read over the summer. The theme of this year's summer reading program is "A Universe of Stories."
